Terms Of Service

Last updated 11 August 2026. Spec Kitty TeamSpace is in free private beta. These terms are under legal review and will be replaced; the version published here is the one that applies to your use of the service today.

Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and Spec Kitty covering your use of the hosted Teamspace service, the Spec Kitty CLI where it talks to that product, and this website. If you use TeamSpace on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it, and "you" means that company.

If you do not accept these terms, do not use the service.

What the service is, and what it is not

TeamSpace records and presents work that happens in your own repositories and tools: missions, decisions, work packages, builds, and the activity around them. It is a control plane over work you already own. It is not a source of truth for your code, and it is not a backup.

Keep your own copies. Your repositories remain yours and remain wherever you host them. Nothing in this service is a substitute for your own version control, and we do not undertake to be able to reconstruct your work from what we hold.

Beta status

The service is in free private beta. That has three practical consequences worth stating plainly rather than burying:

  • Features can change, move, or be withdrawn.
  • There is no uptime commitment and no service level agreement. We aim to keep it up; we do not promise to.
  • We may contact you about your use of the service, including to ask what broke.

Your account

You need an account, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Keep your credentials to yourself, use an email address you actually control, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

One human, one account. Do not share a login between people; add them to the Teamspace instead.

Teamspaces, and who controls what

Your Individual Teamspace is yours. Private projects and private activity in it stay there, and no action taken by a collaborative Teamspace reaches into it.

A collaborative Teamspace is controlled by its admins, not by us and not by any single member. When you admit a project, decision, mission, or build into one, it becomes a shared record under that Teamspace's control. Admins can export it, and admins can delete the Teamspace. Leaving a Teamspace does not withdraw records you already shared into it.

Attribution is a record of what happened, not a possession. Your authorship of past actions stays in a Teamspace's history after you leave. Where we are required to erase your identity we pseudonymize the actor on those records rather than rewriting what the record says occurred.

Your content

You keep all ownership of the content you bring to the service. We claim no rights in your code, your repositories, or the records you generate.

You give us permission to store, copy, transmit, and display that content only so far as we need to in order to operate the service for you and the people you have shared it with, and to keep backups and diagnose faults. That permission ends when the content is deleted under the retention rules below, other than for records we are separately required to keep.

You are responsible for having the right to put your content into the service in the first place, including where it belongs to an employer or a client.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to break the law, infringe someone else's rights, or store other people's personal data that you have no basis to hold. Do not attempt to access another Teamspace's data, probe or attack the service, or work around technical limits and quotas. Do not resell access.

Automated access through the CLI and documented APIs is expected and welcome. Automated access designed to degrade the service for others is not.

If you find a security problem, tell us before you tell anyone else, and we will not pursue you for good-faith research that respects other people's data.

Plans and payment

Current plans and prices are on the Pricing page and form part of these terms. Individual and Pair Teamspaces are free. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually, for the plan you choose.

Payments are handled by Stripe or Polar, who act as merchant of record for your Teamspace. Their terms govern the payment itself, and your card and bank details are held by them and never copied into Teamspace activity data. Taxes are added where required.

Only a Teamspace's billing holders can start, change, schedule, or undo a subscription.

Cancellation, failed payments, and refunds

When you cancel, your Teamspace keeps full paid access to the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not charge again and we do not prorate a refund for the unused part of that period. A scheduled cancellation can be reversed at any point before it takes effect.

If a renewal payment fails, you do not lose access immediately. There is a seven calendar day grace period with full access while we and the payment provider retry.

Cancelling never deletes your Teamspace, never touches private-source data, and never changes who is credited with past work. Immediate cancellation is not a self-serve option; it is reserved for an approved refund, verified fraud or legal action, or Teamspace deletion.

Keeping, exporting, and deleting your data

Any admin can export a Teamspace at any time, including during payment delinquency.

If a paid Teamspace stops paying and does not become a free Pair Teamspace, it enters restricted recovery mode and its data stays readable, exportable, and recoverable for 365 days from the date paid service ended. We warn admins and billing holders 30, 7, and 1 day before that deadline. Reactivating clears it. At the deadline we purge the Teamspace's product data.

Deleting a Teamspace is a reversible seven day process with a cooling-off window, not an instant erase. The Privacy page describes both processes in full and is the operative detail.

Financial, fraud, security, and legal-hold records are kept separately under their own retention rules and can outlive the deletion of your product data.

Suspension and termination by us

We may suspend or close an account or a Teamspace that breaches these terms, that we are legally required to act on, or that is causing harm to the service or to other users. Where the situation allows it, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export.

You can stop using the service at any time.

Changes

We may change the service and these terms. For changes that materially reduce what you get, we will give notice before they take effect through the product or by email to Teamspace admins. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not, stop using the service and, where you are on a paid plan, contact us.

Warranties

The service is provided as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error free, or that any record it presents is complete or correct at any given moment.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss or corruption of data. Our total liability to you for all claims in any twelve month period is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us for the service in that period, or one hundred United States dollars.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Because the service is free during private beta, the practical effect of the paragraph above is that our financial liability is capped at one hundred United States dollars. That is a real limit and you should decide what you put into the service accordingly.

Your responsibility to others

If someone brings a claim against us because of content you put into the service or because of how you used it, you will cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, provided we tell you promptly and let you take part in the defence.

General

If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them to a successor to our business. These terms, together with the Privacy page and the Pricing page, are the whole agreement between us about the service.

Governing law

Governing law and the courts with jurisdiction are to be confirmed as part of the legal review noted at the top of this page.
